TALLAHASSEE – Florida A&M University (FAMU) announces the Annual President’s Holiday Toy Drive, set to take place on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at the Grand Ballroom, located at 1628 South Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd, Tallahassee, Fla. 32307.
This festive event is a cherished tradition dedicated to bringing holiday cheer to local families by providing gifts for the holiday season.
Donations will be accepted at the event or at the Christmas Connection (CC) Operations Site, located at Governor’s Square Mall—Former Macy’s Store, 1500 Apalachee Parkway, until Dec. 14.
“Within the last five years, the President’s Holiday Toy Drive has received over 1,200 toys and has successfully been going on for over twenty-plus years, which was started by the Late Dr. Fredrick S. Humphries,” said FAMU Director of Special Events Vernon Bryant.
Interim President Timothy Beard, First Lady Beard, and members of the Senior Leadership Team will be on hand to greet each donor. The participation of staff and student volunteers helps make it a festive holiday event, underscoring Florida A&M University’s commitment to community service and making a positive impact during the holiday season as FAMU enters its 137th year.
The 2024 President’s Holiday Toy Drive marks the first toy drive that Interim President Timothy Beard will attend under his new position as he understands the significance of caring for those in need in the FAMU external community.
“We are truly thankful to everyone who donates to this toy drive each year,” said President Beard. “The generosity of the campus community and our friends in the surrounding neighborhoods goes a long way to make the season bright for deserving children here in Tallahassee.”
