TALLAHASSEE — Florida A&M University's School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (SJGC) will host its annual “Grads Are Back” colloquium on Thursday, October 31, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Charles Winter Wood Theatre. This year’s colloquium theme is "Future Impact: Building A Personal Career Brand that Can Take You Anywhere."
Rod Carter, anchor at WNCN News in Raleigh/Durham, N.C., will be the master of ceremony, while Meaghan Taylor, digital content producer for The Steve Harvey Morning Show will moderate a discussion with Maria More, co-host of the Rickey Smiley Morning Show. The two nationally syndicated radio mavens will share how various journalism opportunities can help students build personal career brands that align with their professional aspirations.
“This colloquium exemplifies our commitment to nurturing students' career ambitions while showcasing how a journalism degree can lead to diverse and impactful career opportunities. We want to inspire our students to think broadly about their futures,” said Mira Lowe, SJGC dean.
Dean Lowe and Kim Godwin Manning, chair of the SJGC Board of Visitors, will address students and alumni. The colloquium is part of SJGC’s 50 years of journalism celebration, showcasing the program's longstanding commitment to preparing students for successful careers.
Rod Carter, Meaghan Taylor, Maria More, and Kim Godwin Manning, are all proud FAMU SJGC alumni, demonstrating the reach and impact of SJGC graduates across various media industries.
The event is open to all students across campus and alumni, providing a unique networking opportunity with media professionals and industry leaders.
