TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) at Florida A&M University (FAMU) is excited to host the highly anticipated Fall Internship and Career Expo on Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Al Lawson Multipurpose Center. This event, which is open to all students of all majors, offers a valuable opportunity to connect with top companies seeking to fill internship and full-time positions.
“The Career and Professional Development Center is committed to supporting students who are undecided and don’t have an idea of what they want to major in,” said Tamara Taylor, CPDC director. “We help students figure out their career options, job interviews, salary negotiation tips, and other professional-related skills.”
Several well-known companies, including ALDI, WATTS Water Technologies, NuCor, Macy’s, and Estée Lauder, will be in attendance, actively recruiting FAMU students. The expo is a chance to explore career opportunities, network with industry professionals, and potentially land internships or job offers before graduation. Business attire is strongly encouraged, as students will be presenting themselves to potential employers. The CPDC hosted a JCPenney’s ‘Suit Up’ event on September 22, that provided students an opportunity to purchase professional attire at a discount in advance of the Expo. The CPDC and employers including Shell, JCPenney’s, Raymond James, VR Systems, Inc., and title sponsor Suncoast Credit Union, raffled JCPenney’s gift cards ranging from $50 - $500 to help offset out of pocket expenses for students.
Whether you are looking to secure an internship, explore different career paths, or land your first full-time job, the expo is an ideal setting to make connections that could define your future.
The Career and Professional Development Center, located in the CASS building, provides resources year-round to help students develop professionally and prepare for opportunities like the career expo. The CPDC offers an extensive range of services, including career planning, interview preparation, resume coaching, and professional headshots—all at no cost to students.
The CPDC's goal is to ensure that every FAMU student, from first-year undergraduates to graduating seniors, has access to tools that will prepare them for the workforce. Services are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with special Walk-In Wednesday sessions for students seeking immediate assistance. For more personalized career guidance, students can schedule appointments through Handshake, FAMU's career management platform.
By attending the Fall Internship and Career Expo, and utilizing the many resources offered by the CPDC, FAMU students can confidently take steps toward achieving their professional goals.
