To the Florida A&M University Community,

Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) is an exceptional institution with a rich legacy and a vibrant future. As we continue to Boldly Strike for student success, I am pleased to appoint members of the FAMU Presidential Search Committee, an esteemed group of individuals that represent the FAMU Board of Trustees, the Board of Governors, FAMU student body, faculty, foundation, alumni, community, and supporters. This Committee brings a wealth of diverse experiences, perspectives, and a shared commitment to the future of this illustrious University.

The members of the Search Committee are as follows:

As the No. 81 institution among the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Top Public Universities, the highest-ranked public Historically Black College and University (HBCU) for the sixth consecutive year, and third among all private and public HBCUs, I am confident that this role will attract an outstanding pool of candidates.

The Search Committee is an advisory body which will be chaired by Trustee Deveron Gibbons. The Committee will vet candidates and recommend a short list of highly qualified candidates to the FAMU Board of Trustees for consideration. The Board will interview the finalists and select the 19th President of FAMU, subject to ratification by the Board of Governors of the State University System.

The Presidential Search Committee is expected to begin meeting in the near future and will be assisted by an executive search firm selected by the FAMU Board of Trustees. Soon we will launch a Presidential Search webpage on the University’s website to provide valuable updates and information on the means for stakeholders to provide input on the search, including but not limited to listening sessions. The website link is forthcoming.

Please join me in thanking the Presidential Search Committee in advance for their service and steadfast commitment to FAMU and this important process. Thank you for your continued support.

Go Rattlers!
