FAMU Online Graduate Program Recognized by 2025 U.S. News & World Report Rankings

Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida A&M University (FAMU) is among the top online graduation programs, according to 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings released on Tuesday. The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering’s online graduate degree programs have significantly advanced in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings, climbing 10 positions to No. 39 nationally and securing the No. 31 spot among online graduate degrees at public universities.

"Our faculty continually find creative ways to provide an engaging learning environment across all modalities,” says FAMU Interim President Timothy L. Beard, Ph.D. “We are pleased that the online master’s degree in engineering—and the dedicated team behind it—is receiving this well-deserved recognition."

The rankings reflect two master’s programs at the joint college: the Master of Science in Systems Engineering (MSSE) and the Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering (M.Eng.), both of which are available 100% online. Additionally, the program’s commitment to veterans is particularly noteworthy, achieving a No. 26 ranking in this category.

“Systems engineering facilitates deep integration of technical systems and helps ensure the systems developed are coherent, effective and sustainable solutions to fulfill system needs,” explains Suvranu De, Ph.D., dean of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. “These skills are in demand for high-tech industry careers. The program’s faculty bring extensive experience from both civilian and defense industries, making the curriculum particularly valuable for military personnel and veterans seeking to apply their expertise in engineering and technology-driven fields.”

The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, established by the Florida Legislature in 1982, is the joint engineering school for Florida A&M and Florida State universities, the only shared college of engineering in the nation. The college is a leading academic institution with excellent records of achievement in research and public service. We offer Bachelor of Science (B.S.) programs in chemical, civil, computer, electrical, industrial, biomedical and mechanical engineering as well as M.S. and Ph.D. programs.
