Tallahassee, Fl. – Florida A&M University (FAMU) announces that Brandi Tatum-Fedrick, Ed.D., assistant vice president for Annual/Affinity Giving and University Engagement, will now also oversee Alumni Affairs. This follows the transition of Carmen Cummings-Martin, former director of Alumni Relations, to Chief of Staff for Interim President Timothy Beard, Ph.D.
In Tatum-Federick’s expanded role as assistant vice president of Annual/Affinity Giving and University Engagement/Alumni Affairs, she will continue to lead annual gift cultivation while strategically enhancing alumni engagement. Her work will focus on deepening connections between the University and its alumni community, ensuring that FAMU graduates remain active participants in the life and legacy of the institution.
Tatum-Fedrick, Ph.D., will continue to report to Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the FAMU Foundation W. Anthony Neal, Ph.D., who said:
“Dr. Tatum-Fedrick’s expanded role is a testament to her deep commitment to FAMU. I’m confident she will continue to build strong, lasting relationships with our alumni that support the University’s progress and uphold our tradition of excellence. This transition ensures we are not only sustaining momentum—but strengthening the bridge between FAMU and the Rattlers who proudly represent us throughout the globe,” Neal said.
Beyond donor management, Tatum-Fedrick's leadership encompasses the development and oversight of comprehensive annual fundraising programs and managing significant corporate partnerships with entities such as Boeing, Mielle, Helios Foundation, and Estee Lauder. Her innovative approach to alumni engagement is designed to strengthen ties with FAMU’s broad alumni network, leveraging these relationships to foster a supportive and engaged community.
“Taking on the additional responsibilities of Alumni Affairs and University Engagement represents a tremendous opportunity to bridge our past and present at Florida A&M University,” said Tatum-Fedrick. “It allows us to strengthen ties with our valued alumni, enhancing their involvement in shaping our university's future. This role is not just about building relationships; it's about fostering a community where every member feels engaged and valued. I am excited to drive these initiatives forward, ensuring our alumni not only witness but actively contribute to the ongoing success and vibrancy of our university.”
Tatum-Fedrick’s additional contributions to the University include promoting and coordinating faculty and staff endowment activities, and playing an instrumental role in organizing sorority, fraternity, and class reunion giving campaigns, which have significantly boosted alumni participation and financial contributions.
Tatum-Fredrick holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education, a Master of Applied Social Science in public administration from FAMU, and a Doctorate of Education from Florida State University.
