TALLAHASSEE, Fla.— Today, Florida A&M University (FAMU) Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Allyson L. Watson, Ph.D., launches the Scholarship Discovery Lecture Series, a new initiative designed to spotlight innovative research and foster intellectual exchange across academic disciplines. The first talk of the new year was features distinguished educator and technologist Gregory K. Johnson, Ph.D.
“The Scholarship Discovery Lecture Series exemplifies FAMU’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and intellectual curiosity,” says Watson. “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Gregory Johnson as a speaker and look forward to the knowledge and inspiration he will bring to our campus community.”
Johnson currently serves as director and professor of digital media technology at Polk State College. With over two decades of experience in instructional technology, he has established himself as a leading voice in integrating advanced technologies in education.
Johnson’s talk, titled “Facing the Future: Teaching, Leadership, and Innovation in Digital Arts, Media, and Online Education,” explores the intersection of technology, creativity, and pedagogy. All FAMU students, faculty, and staff may attend either a morning (11 a.m.) or afternoon (2 p.m.) 90-minute session to discover how to:
Franzetta D. Fitz, Ph.D., assistant provost for digital and online education at FAMU, emphasizes the series’ forward-looking approach and relevance to 13 FAMU Online degree programs.
“Today’s lecture equips students and educators with the tools and insights needed to excel in a rapidly evolving digital and online landscape in higher education. Dr. Johnson’s expertise undoubtedly set a high standard for future Scholarship Discovery lectures at FAMU.”
