TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Thousands of students checked in at Florida A&M University’s Fall 2025 Career and Internship Expo at the Al Lawson Multipurpose Center, where participants marked a 4.2% increase over last year’s record turnout. Lines wrapped around the facility as eager students waited for their chance to connect with leading employers and explore career opportunities.

The university’s ongoing commitment to student success and professional readiness was on full display.
“We just kind of set ourselves up to really build this culture that we’re trying to build — students participating in career engagement,” said Tamara K. Taylor, director of the Career and Professional Development Center. “I was blown away by the lines out the door. I saw a lot of students who looked prepared, and because they looked prepared, I felt energized and excited that they felt prepared.”
Taylor emphasized that getting students ready for the Expo was a campus-wide effort.
“Different organizations across campus hosted workshops to help students with resumes and elevator pitches,” she said. “That preparation truly showed this year. I also received feedback from companies, and they mentioned how impressed they were with how well the students carried conversations, their appearance, and how they presented themselves. It really highlighted that being prepared can go a long way.”
Taylor also praised the students’ perseverance throughout the event.
“We’re grateful that they stayed in line and they weren’t discouraged,” she said. “It makes me feel really proud as an alumna.”
The annual Career and Internship Expo provides employers from around the world an opportunity to partner with FAMU and connect with its top talent. This year, about 150 employers participated, representing a wide range of industries from finance and technology to healthcare and media.
Taylor noted the university was fortunate to have high-level participation numbers when some of the peer institutions do not.

Returning employers included Raymond James Financial, Nike, Eli Lilly, and event sponsor Estée Lauder.
Among the many success stories was Sidney Berry, a spring 2024 FAMU graduate now representing Bloomberg L.P., a global leader in financial data, technology and media. Berry secured her internship through the career expo and now serves as a member of Bloomberg’s college recruitment team.
“From the moment I touched down on campus, I knew I wanted to be heavily involved in the culture and campus life,” Berry said. “I wasn’t aware of Bloomberg initially, but I took the chance mainly because the internship was paid and based in New York,my dream city.”
The alumna expressed that being on the opposite side of the recruitment table felt like a full circle moment.
“While setting up our table, I kept thinking back to how I almost didn’t go up and speak to the recruiters because nothing was mentioned about my major. It just made me realize that all my efforts and hard work in school really paid off,” Berry said.

The momentum from the xxpo extended beyond the main event. The Thursday after the Expo, several companies requested on-campus space to conduct interviews with standout students they met during the fair. In total, about 27 students participated in these employer-requested interviews, reflecting the event’s lasting impact and the caliber of FAMU’s talent.
As the Fall 2025 Career and Internship Expo came to a close, its record-breaking success reaffirmed FAMU’s commitment to student excellence and professional development. With continued support from dedicated employers, alumni and campus partners, the university remains a powerful launchpad for future leaders.
Save the Date: The next Career and Internship Expo will take place Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at the Al Lawson Multipurpose Center. Employer registration will open in December.
