TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida A&M University will host FAMU Day at the Capitol on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Florida State Capitol inside the Capitol Courtyard Complex, with university exhibits located on the 22nd floor.
The signature event brings together students, alumni, faculty, staff and supporters to highlight the university’s statewide impact and advocate for continued legislative support.
“FAMU Day at the Capitol is an opportunity to promote who we are as Florida A&M University — our students, our faculty and our academic programs — and to ensure lawmakers understand the tremendous impact we are making on the state of Florida,” said Michelle Robinson, vice president for government relations. “Legislative support has transformed into real results benefiting our students and our state, and we are grateful for that continued partnership.”
The occasion provides an opportunity for members of the FAMU community to engage directly with state lawmakers while showcasing the university’s academic excellence, research initiatives, workforce development efforts and community impact.

Throughout the day, attendees will participate in advocacy activities, educational exhibits and engagement opportunities designed to elevate student voices and demonstrate how legislative investment directly supports student success and institutional growth.
“One of the key roles of the Office of Advancement is to connect the dots between students, alumni, legislators and community partners by bringing their voices together to support the university’s priorities,” said Brandi Tatum-Fedrick, Ed.D., vice president for university advancement and executive director of the FAMU Foundation. “When lawmakers hear directly from our students about affordability, internships and career pathways, and from alumni who are leading in the workforce, it strengthens our advocacy and brings our priorities to life.”
The university encourages all participants and supporters to attend and proudly represent Florida A&M University in orange and green. In the event of inclement weather, all programming will move indoors to the 22nd floor of the Capitol.
Additional details and programming updates will be shared leading up to the event.
