Happy Thanksgiving FAMU
Wishing you a peaceful, safe, and meaningful Thanksgiving holiday.

Dear FAMUly,

As we enter this season of gratitude, I want to take a moment to reflect on the strength and spirit of our Florida A&M University community.

Thanksgiving offers us a meaningful opportunity to pause and acknowledge the many blessings that sustain us. Among them, are YOU, the people who have helped this institution thrive for more than a century and propelled us forward to number one status in so many ways.

To our students, thank you for your determination, your intellectual curiosity, and your trust in this University. You represent the promise of tomorrow, and your commitment to growth and excellence fuels our mission and continues to inspire me each day. I’m grateful for the energy you bring and the limitless future you represent.

To our faculty and staff, I am deeply grateful for your service, leadership, and expertise. Your work—seen and unseen—guides our students, advances our academic community, and strengthens our foundation. Your contributions reflect the highest ideals of our shared values and your enduring dedication to this University.

To our alumni, your infinite support and deep pride in FAMU uplift this University in powerful ways. You carry our legacy into every field, every community, and every generation. Thank you for remaining connected and for championing the next wave of Rattlers who follow in your footsteps.

This time of year reminds us of the importance of reflection, connection, and gratitude. I am grateful for all of you who have helped me immerse myself in the spirit and culture of FAMU. I am thankful for every person who has given me feedback that helped inform my decisions and ground my direction.

Above all, I am honored to serve. As Muhammad Ali once said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” This responsibility is one that I do not take lightly, because when one of us rises, we all rise together. I remain committed to elevating this University and I am deeply thankful to each of you who has helped make FAMU a Top 100 public institution.

As you gather with loved ones, I hope you find joy, rest, and renewed purpose. Wherever you are, you remain part of our Rattler family, and your presence—near or far—strengthens the very fabric of who we are in Tallahassee, across Florida, this nation and throughout the global community.

I am thankful for the progress we are making together. Our journey continues, and I look forward to all that we will accomplish in the months ahead.

Wishing you a peaceful, safe, and meaningful Thanksgiving holiday.

With Rattler Gratitude,

Marva B. Johnson, J.D., MBA

Florida A&M University President
