Florida A&M graduate student Camrin Thompson, is gaining hands-on experience in capital markets and private wealth strategy through a high-impact internship in the banking industry.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — As a professional MBA student at Florida A&M University, Camrin Thompson, is taking bold steps in the finance world through his internship with PNC Bank. Focused on developing his banking expertise, he is gaining real-world experience to advance his future plans.
“So, my role is to work on projects between [ANG and Private] banking, portfolio building, providing financial advice, things like that,” Thompson said. “It allows me to get hands-on with multiple skills.”
The Miami native is contributing to high-impact projects that align with his long-term career interests in corporate finance, wealth management, and client-centered banking solutions. Working closely with colleagues, he helps assess capital market trends, evaluates institutional client strategies, and analyzes financial performance indicators.
Simultaneously, his exposure to private banking allows him to engage with relationship management and portfolio analysis, offering tailored financial solutions to high-net-worth clients.
“My most favorite project so far has been the investment portfolio project, where we had to create a $10 million portfolio with a 6% return on investment (ROI),” he said. “My portfolio ended up having a 12% ROI, which I am very proud of. You know I had to double it.”

Thompson’s time at PNC Bank is not only sharpening his financial acumen but also reinforcing his mission: to become a trusted financial advisor and change agent in overlooked communities.
“One of my proudest moments as an SBI graduate is being a forum guest for their Student Entrepreneur Forum this past Spring,” he said, showcasing his desire to be a role model for younger Florida A&M students.
Outside of his professional achievements, Thompson is also a supportive member of the Rattler family. He became a brother of the FAMU chapter of the Collegiate 100 during his freshman year, and from then on, he dedicated his time at FAMU to making a difference.
“I’ve always been active in my community. I racked up a few hundred service hours in high school, so since I was younger, I knew I wanted to help people,” he shared.
Thompson has served as treasurer of the FAMU Campus Activities Board, CFO of the Florida College Democrats, and comptroller of the FAMU Student Government Association. He also became a brother of the Upsilon Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Querageous. He is also the Dean of March for UNCONCERNED 15. Following that, he became his Chapter Reporter. Thompson also runs a successful photography business and enjoys things like baseball in his free time.
As he continues to build his professional toolkit, Thompson said he wants to set a strong example of what it means to lead with purpose at Florida A&M and in the wider financial industry. As of now, it seems like he’s nailed it.
