TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida A&M University (FAMU) will launch a limited commemorative campaign, “A Legacy Cast in Bronze,” to honor the extraordinary leadership and enduring impact of Frederick S. Humphries, Sr., Ph.D.
"Each handcrafted statue reflects the care, intention, and excellence that defined Dr. Humphries’ leadership, and the proceeds ensure that his lifelong commitment to access, opportunity, and student success continues to transform lives for generations.” said Brandi Tatum Fedrick, Ed.D., vice president of the Division of University Advancement and executive director of the FAMU Foundation, Inc.
Beginning April 16–17 during FAMU’s annual 1887 Strikes Day of Giving, the University will offer 100 handcrafted miniature bronze statues, each priced at $1,500, as a historic opportunity for alumni, supporters, and friends to celebrate Humphries’ transformative legacy while investing in student success.
Each miniature statue is a detailed replica of the full-scale bronze monument dedicated in October 2025 in Dr. Humphries’ honor. These commemorative pieces are not mass-produced. Every statue is individually handcrafted, requiring significant time, skill, and artistry, reflecting the dignity, excellence, and intention of befitting one of Florida A&M University’s most influential leaders.

Proceeds from each statue will cover production costs and include a charitable gift made in Dr. Humphries’ honor to the “Life Gets Better Endowment,” ensuring his lifelong commitment to access, opportunity, and student achievement continues to shape future generations of Rattlers.
In addition to the statue offering, supporters who prefer not to purchase a replica may contribute $1,000 to the Statue Campaign. Donors at this level will be permanently recognized on a commemorative plaque installed near the full-scale statue on campus, allowing their names to be forever linked to this historic tribute.
By participating in “A Legacy Cast in Bronze,” donors will either own a tangible piece of history or secure permanent recognition alongside a monument honoring one of the University’s most transformative presidents.
With only 100 statues available, supporters are encouraged to act promptly when the campaign launches during 1887 Strikes.
