Florida A&M University Announces the Investiture of President Marva B. Johnson, J.D., April 20-21
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida A&M University (FAMU) proudly announces the investiture of the 13th president, Marva B. Johnson, J.D., a distinguished leader whose vision signals a transformative era for the institution. The investiture ceremony and accompanying events will take place April 20–21, marking a historic occasion that celebrates leadership, legacy, and the University’s continued ascent.
Held under the theme “FAMU Forward, Advancing Excellence,” the celebration will convene students, alumni, faculty, staff, community leaders, and national stakeholders to formally install President Johnson and affirm a collective commitment to student success, academic excellence, and institutional progress. The investiture represents both a ceremonial milestone and a strategic inflection point, underscoring Florida A&M University’s enduring mission and its future trajectory as a premier public research institution.
“It is both an honor and a profound responsibility to serve as president of Florida A&M University,” said President Johnson. “This investiture is not simply a celebration of leadership, but a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and the success of every student we serve. - Partner / Donor Reception and Dinner – 6:00 p.m., Quadrangle
Tuesday, April 21
- Investiture Ceremony – 11:00 a.m., Lee Hall Auditorium
- Quadrangle Reception – Immediately following the ceremony
- The President’s Wind Symphony Concert – 7:30 p.m., Lee Hall Auditorium
The official investiture ceremony will serve as the capstone event, formally installing President Johnson and featuring academic traditions, institutional tributes, and remarks from distinguished guests.
