
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) proudly announces the successful conclusion of its annual “1887 Strikes” Day of Giving, raising an extraordinary $559,948.48 during 1,887 minutes of collective generosity from 2,455 donors.
“This remarkable achievement reflects the strength of the FAMUly and what is possible when we come together with purpose,” said Brandi Tatum-Fedrick, Ed.D., vice president for University Advancement and executive director of the FAMU Foundation, Inc. “Every gift, no matter the size, is a powerful statement of belief in our students and in the legacy, we are building together.”

Driven by the power of community, connection, and commitment, this year’s campaign exceeded expectations and demonstrated the unwavering dedication of Rattlers across the globe. Alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents, and friends came together in a unified call to invest in the future of Florida A&M University.
“On behalf of every student, faculty member, researcher, and dreamer at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, I want to say thank you to everyone who supported the 1887 Strikes Day of Giving Campaign,” said President Marva B. Johnson, J.D. “Your contributions are more than financial gifts. These gifts support the areas of our university that you are passionate about and ensure that our students achieve their dreams for generations to come.”

Throughout the campaign, donors supported key priorities including scholarships, academic programs, student services, athletics, and the world-renowned Marching “100.” A highlight of the campaign was the launch of the Humphries Legacy Cast in Bronze Campaign that has garnered $30,000 in contributions thus far. The momentum was amplified through dynamic storytelling, live engagement opportunities, and a strong digital presence that energized participation across generations.
This year’s Day of Giving was anchored in the spirit of “FAMUly Matters,” a celebration of shared pride, legacy, and collective impact. The campaign highlighted the voices and stories of those who make FAMU exceptional, reinforcing the importance of sustained giving and community investment.
